A British DJ has revealed how he is ‘lucky to be alive’ after an armed gang attempted a car-jacking straight out of ‘Fast and Furious’.

Daley Padley, known behind the decks as Hot Since 82, has cancelled his upcoming festival appearances due to the attack in Rio de Janeiro.

The 41-year-old had finished a gig in Casa França-Brasil last Friday and was driving to the airport when ‘a gang of jackers, murderers… wearing AK47s’ began pursuing them.

Padley said in an Instagram video the next day: ‘I’m feeling a little bit broken right now, feeling very lucky to be alive.’

As Padley and his driver barrelled down the motorway at 70mph, he said he was convinced the gang knew of his and his crew’s movements as they pounced only 10 minutes after hitting the road.

The house music producer said: ‘They knew exactly where we were, what car, and where we were going to be at what time which leads me to believe we have been set up.

‘If it wasn’t for the heroic manoeuvres of our driver I don’t know if we would be alive right now.

‘We were on a busy motorway, the car in front had braked for us to stop and then the people hung out of the car windows with balaclavas and AK47s.’

Padley’s driver put the car in reverse and had to dodge incoming cars as they drove down the motorway in the wrong direction.

‘If the AK47s didn’t get us then we are really lucky we didn’t have a really bad car crash because we are weaving in and out of oncoming traffic going 60, 70 mph with the car full of AK47s following us,’ he added.

‘Obviously, as you can imagine it was like a scene out of Fast and Furious.

‘I’m giggling about it but I am broken inside. It makes you lose faith in humanity to think somebody has told these shooters where we are going to be.’

With a child on the way, Padley added that he’d booked the first flight home and cancelled his shows at the Warung Festival in Curitiba and Time Warp in São Paulo for his family’s safety.

‘It’s not worth it, no DJ show or fee is worth it. I had such a wicked time in Rio. But I am out of here, safety first,’ he added.

Police confirmed to the entertainment news outlet UOL Splash that they have not received a report on the incident.
