Hollywood legend’s elderly transformation is way too real

Pierce Brosnan did not look like Pierce Brosnan while filming for his new movie in Leeds earlier today.
The James Bond star, 70, wasn’t his usual suave self while in character for his next role, which casts the actor in a wildly different light indeed.
After pictures emerged of the 007 legend in tracksuits – not somewhing we are used to – now Pierce has been snapped wearing a dull suit and vintage spectacles.
Hollywood icon Pierce has certainly undergone a serious transformation for his role as Irish-born boxing trainer Brendan Ingle in the upcoming film, Giant.
The flick is based on the true story of British-Yemeni boxer Prince Naseem ‘Naz’ Hamed’s rise to world championship stardom under the guidance of Brendan.
We’re really not sure about that diamond tie Pierce, and the suit isn’t doing his colour palate any favours. But in the name of acting, we will allow it.
Written and directed by Rowan Athale, also behind The Rise, Giant is a true rags-to-riches tale of Hamed’s journey from the working class streets of Sheffield to being discovered by former steel industry worker Ingle and mentored into a star.
Based on Hamed’s real experiences in 1980s Britain, the film also explores the extra hurdles he must overcome in his career at a time when Islamophobia was rife.
Pierce’s character Brendan was one of 15 with 10 brothers and four sisters.
He fought as a professional middleweight boxer in his 20s and at his peak was ranked number eight in the UK.
Having no experience training, he began holding gym sessions for local Sheffield youths after a vicar asked him to do something about them ‘running wild’ around town.
He went on to train Hamed from age seven to 25, and also trained champions including Clinton Woods, Junior Witter, and Johnny Nelson, holding sessions at his gym right on his doorstep in Sheffield.
In 1998 he was awarded an MBE for his services to British boxing, and 20 years later he died due to a brain hemorrhage at the age of 77.
Nelson described him as the ‘best trainer in the world’.
Speaking about the film director and screenwriter Athale previously said he’s wanted to tell the story for some time now.
‘The story of fabled boxing trainer Brendan Ingle and his tempestuous relationship with protege “Prince” Naseem is both legendary and truly cinematic,’ he told Variety.
‘It’s exciting, necessary, hilarious, and heartbreaking, and to be making this movie with the incomparable Paddy Considine and Mena Massoud, and with the support of the one and only Sylvester Stallone and his Balboa Productions team, is a dream come true.’
